QUEENS UNIVERSITY BELFAST
This tour begins with the political wall murals throughout the city. These murals tell the story of the troubled history of the city and visitors will be accompanied by a tour guide with a BA (Hons) in Economic and Social History from The Queens University Belfast. There is no restriction regarding how many photographs or how many questions are asked to make this a memorable tour. Of course it is "necessary" to sign the famous Belfast "peace wall" so do not forget to bring a felt tip pen, camera or video recorder. We then continue with a panoramic overview of Belfast which encompasses the many historic buildings of the city as well as the fantastic new development which has taken place in the last ten to fifteen years as a result of the peace process. The tour guide will also keep you entertained with a host of anecdotal stories of the city and many of the sites which appeared on television during recent years are visited. These include Stormont, The Royal Courts of Justice, The Crumlin Road Prison, The Odyssey, The Titanic Quarter where the famous ship "The Titanic" was built, (incidently, she was alright when she left here!) Belfast Castle and a host of other sites.

Most people are unaware of the fact that Belfast is the only city in the E.U. with a commercial forest in the centre of it. Resting on the south side of the river Lagan among the Castlereagh Hills this walk through the forest will be brought to life by a tour guide (a former forest guide) as he relates the history of the area from the Ice Age to the present day and with his expert knowledge he will show you how to identify indigeneous trees, flora and fauna, mammals and bird life. Keep a sharp lookout for Red Squirrels and the secretive Jays which inhabit the forest. This tour appeals to both visitors and locals alike and is very popular with ramblers, schools and youth groups. Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear must worn. Transport from Belfast City Centre can be arranged.
