                              St. PATRICKS TOUR

ST PATRICKS CENTRE DOWNPATRICK  

This tour takes the visitor on a journey through the beautiful Co Down countryside and small market villages to the town of Downpatrick. The first port of call entails a visit to the St Patrick's Centre which is the largest visitor centre dedicated to St Patrick in the world.  This part of the visit commences with a virtual trip around Ireland courtesy of the Imax cinema (stunning effects!) and then through the audio visual centre adjacent to the cinema. After a coffee break (optional) a walk through the beautiful gardens next door is highly recommended. 

                                                                          

Down Cathedral Downpatrick

The trip then continues to Down Cathedral where the visitor will be given a talk on the history and pre-history of the site and then to the grave which is reputed to contain the remains of St Patrick, St. Bridget and St. Colmcille.

The Church at Saul

Returning to the town there is a short visit to Down Museum and then Saul and the site of the first Christain church in Ireland. Other sites visited include The Holy Wells at Struel and Inch Abbey

                                         The Cuan

The Cuan 

No trip to Co Down is complete without a visit (optional) to the Cuan Bar and Restaurant where the finest Sea Food and conventional fare is served. The Cuan is situated in the picturesque village of Strangford, seven miles from Downpatrick.

This tour lasts approximately seven to eight hours and can be varied to suit lunch breaks etc. Pre-booking is essential.
